Hello!  I'm Tammy Rutgers.  I have been teaching piano part time for ten years, and this
year I am also teaching classical church organ to an advanced piano student who desires
organ proficiency as well.  I have studied piano and organ privately and have served as a
church pianist/organist and choir accompanist for over 35 years.  I also sing alto in the
Lynden Choral Society.  During my college years I supplemented my choral involvement
by assisting in classical music programming at the Dordt College educational radio
station, KDCR.  My B.A. is in communications, and Icurrently work full time in health
information management as a medical transcriptionist for St. Joseph Hospital.  In this
health care setting I see many examples of the therapeutic value of recreational music for
creative emotional expression.  Finally, I am deeply grateful to LMTA for providing me
with superb continuing education through monthly meetings, chapter recitals, access to
workshops, publications, repertoire, adjudication opportunities, and general networking
for excellence in music education.
I am currently accepting students.  Please contact me at tdrutts@gmail.com
